What is a good quote? Who can share wisdom? Do you have to be a thinker, a philosopher, for the quotes to count as good or can the girl next door have just as much to say?
I have a complicated relationship with quotes and wisdom. Sometimes I find it hard to tell if they are grounded or if they are platitudes. Maybe it's not important? But the important thing is how they are received by the reader, how it lands right then and there.

Within this project I play and test the concept of wisdom and put together my own random quotes based on already written text. The text is taken from fashion magazines and then converted into new quotes from my own head.
The quotes are illustrated with silhouettes of women in different positions. The women are more visible in some pictures and more hidden in others. Patterns forms a cohesive picture made up of unique components. At first glance, all of the components look the same, but when you look closer, you see that each part is unique. Each part has its own expression and, does not need to be perfect in order to still form a pattern. Together the small components for something larger. You can also put the pictures together and they will form a larger pattern. Which show the women, each unique, in a pattern of how it is to be a woman.
The pictures are monotypes printed with a gelli plate and acrylic paint on paper.
